On Sunday night I played with my project Charlotte and Mr. Stone at a really strange little place in Berlin’s Prenzlauerberg, called Intersoup. Ironically the place had been broken into only hours before the show, and has a few questionable aspects (such as electrical wires dangling in front of the concert room doors); however Canadian saxophonist Peter Van Huffel and German saxophonist Frank Paul Schubert opened our CD release concert performing four improvised saxophone duets, using alternatively the alto and the soprano saxophone. It was a great pleasure to be taken away by these two lines of melodies entangled or separated, sometimes creating multi phonics, and delving into many possible sound textures. Simon and I were then inspired to explore some new sound textures with our electronic material.
The next concert will be held in Berlin on January 26th and here is an article of another concert we did in Berlin last month, which describes quite well the music Simon and I perform: http://schönschrift.org/artikel/charlotte-mr-stone-giggeln-glucksen-schmunzeln-schrecken/ It is in German though….
